For English lessons of Private Car or Light Goods Vehicle, two lessons are delivered each time. If you would like to change your lesson appointments, you will have to phone the instructor directly 24 hours ahead of the booked appointment. Failure to do the above, the student will be deemed to have received the lesson(s) as scheduled.

People who already has a Hong Kong driving license

English Driving lessons for people who already has a Hong Kong driving license and wish to renew or practice their driving skills are available upon request.

Each lesson is delivered in 45 minutes. Private Car (AUTOMATIC Yaris/Jazz) each lesson $285 / (10 lessons $2750)

Private Car (AUTOMATIC Corolla) each lesson $295 / (10 lessons $2850)

8-Seater Deluxe (AUTOMATIC Noah/StepWGN) each lesson $318 / (10 lessons $3080)

Applying for a Driving Test – Private Car & Light Goods Vehicle

To apply for a driving test in Hong Kong, you need to pay for:
  1. A learner's driver's licence and
  2. The examination fee

After applying for the driving test has been submitted:

  • There will be a written test scheduled for you after approximately three to four weeks the application had been submitted.
  • Upon passing the written test, the Transport Department will provide you with a letter that indicates your actual on-road examination information, ***including location and time***.

  • The on-road examination date is scheduled approximately three months up to eight months after you had passed the written test.
  • After passing your written test, you can book your driving lessons with our instructors.
  • If you are satisfied with the instructor, he will be your assigned instructor until you complete your on-road test.
  • If you would like to switch your driving instructor, you can phone Lee Kin Driving School at

  • Lee Kin Driving School will arrange your lessons with the same assigned instructor and the same vehicle for every lesson.
  • For your on-road examination, you will use the same vehicle which you used during your lessons.
  • If you pass the road test, you will need to pay $90 HKD to the Transport Department to get a probationary class driver's license which is valid for one year. If you do not get into any serious traffic accident within the following year (one year), you can pay $900 HKD to apply for a full license, which is valid for ten years.
  • However, if you fail the written test or the road test, you will need to pay another $510 HKD to the Transport Department to apply for another on-road examination appointment.
  • Note: The learner's driver's licence is only valid for one year. If your driver's licence has expired, you will need to purchase a new one.

Exams and types of vehicles you can operate:

  • In Hong Kong, if you pass a private car exam, you can only drive private cars;
  • However, if you pass a light goods vehicle exam, you can drive both private cars and light goods vehicles.
  • If you pass an automatic car exam, you can only drive automatic cars;
  • However, if you pass a manual car exam, you can drive both automatic and manual cars.

You can only choose your road test region in either the Kowloon region or Hong Kong region. After you choose your desired road test area (either Kowloon region or Hong Kong region), the transport department will randomly allocate an examination location for your on-road test in that area.

Example: Suppose you choose to have your road test in Kowloon side. After the road test location has been confirmed at one of the Kowloon locations, you cannot change the road test location, unless if you select your road test location to a Hong Kong island road test location.

Application for postponement of test: Your test form shall be invalidated if you do not turn up for the test at the prescribed time and location unless written application for postponement is received by the commissioner for Transport at least seven clear working and business days before the test. (Note: For the purposes of satisfying the requirement of seven days of notice, the day of the scheduled test and that day on which the notice is deemed to be given are excluded. In other words, there should be seven days in between the two dates. If the application is sent by post, the date of the postmark is taken as the day on which the notice is deemed to be received. If the application is sent by drop box, the date of dropping the application is taken as the application received. In addition, candidate should submit the signed written application for postponement together with the copy of identification document.

All postponement or change of site (from Hong Kong to Kowloon or vice-versa cases) will be placed at the end of the waiting list.
Your test form is only valid for a period of 18 months from the date of its issue. If your test form expires at the time of your next driving test appointment or arranged subsequent to this application, you will have to purchase a new test form before you can take the test.
